If you're one of those pilgrims who wish to visit Baitul Maqdis after completing Umrah, we don't want you to miss out on seeing the city's main attractions. So, we've compiled a list of the top-rated tourist sites that you should visit!
Masjid Al-Aqsa
Masjid Al-Aqsa is located in Baitul Maqdis' old city. It is the third holiest mosque in the world after Masjidil Haram in Makkah and the Masjid AnNabawi in Madinah. During the Isra’ Mi’raj, Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was transferred from Masjidil Haram in Makkah to Masjid Al-Aqsa and subsequently to heaven. Moreover, before Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and Muslims were ordered to pray towards the Kaaba in Makkah, they directed their prayers towards Masjid Al-Aqsa. These explain why this Masjid Al-Aqsa maintains a very special place in the hearts of Muslims.
Dome of the Rock
If you are at the Masjid Al-Aqsa, the Dome of the Rock (Qubbah Al-Sakhra) is just a few metres away. The Dome was built in 691 CE at the spot where Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended to heaven during the Mi’raj event.
The Muslim Quarter
If you enjoy shopping or want to experience the Old City’s liveliest and busiest neighborhood, the Muslim Quarter is the place to go. If you plan to visit here, there are various small businesses and street vendors providing everyday essentials, apparel, jewelry, handicrafts, and local items.
If you're a foodie looking for a full halal experience, all of the restaurants in this area serve halal food! While walking, you can also appreciate the cultural and ethnic atmosphere here.
